Count half-days, not nights
A flight leaving the Netherlands at half past seven puts you in your hotel around midday, which makes day one a half day. Leave in the afternoon and day one is gone. The same sum applies at the other end: a morning flight home costs you the whole last day, an evening flight gives it back.
Four nights with a morning outbound and an evening return gives you four full days in practice. Four nights with an afternoon outbound and a morning return gives you two and a half. That is a day and a half of difference on the same number of nights, and it is exactly where the disappointment usually sits.
So ask about the flight times first and the number of nights second.
What four full days gets you
Marrakech asks for less time than people expect, as long as you do not rush it. Four full days fits this without hurry:
- half a day in the medina: the souks, the Koutoubia and Djemaa el Fna in the evening
- half a day of gardens and palaces: the Jardin Majorelle and the Bahia Palace are not next door to each other, so allow for taxis in between
- a full day out of the city: the Agafay desert, the Ourika valley or the coast
- a day of nothing: the pool, a hammam, a roof terrace. This is the day people cut and then miss.
Five nights adds one full day. Do not spend it on a second museum; spend it on the second trip out of the city, or on a night in the desert camp.
How we arrange a short Marrakech trip
Our fixed departure dates run on the airlines’ weekly rhythms. A stay of four or five nights does not slot into those automatically. That does not mean it cannot be done: we find the flight and turn it into a tailored proposal.
Every proposal includes the flight with hand luggage, the transfer to and from your hotel and all nights with breakfast. Hold luggage, lunches and excursions are added on, so you are not paying for what you will not use.
You pay 30 per cent as a deposit; the balance no later than 42 days before departure. Book within those 42 days and you pay in one go, and you see that before you agree.
