Baggage
What you may take with you depends on your flight. Here you can read how to be sure and what to watch for when packing.
Baggage differs per flight
The baggage you may take differs per flight and per airline. Sometimes only hand luggage is included, sometimes hold luggage as well, and the permitted weights and dimensions vary. That is why we do not list fixed figures here.
What applies to you
Your exact baggage entitlement for this trip is stated in your travel documents, flight by flight. Check it before you start packing, including for the return flight.
If you need more baggage than is included, ask well before departure. Adding baggage at the airport is often more expensive.
Hand luggage
Keep in your hand luggage what you need on the way and what you do not want to lose:
- passport or ID card, travel documents and means of payment
- medication and valuables
- a change of clothes in case your hold luggage arrives later
- power banks and loose batteries, which are generally not allowed in hold luggage
Restrictions apply to liquids in hand luggage at airports. Check the current rules at your departure airport.
Hold luggage
Put your name and phone number inside and outside your suitcase and take a photo of the suitcase and the baggage tags. Do not pack valuables, electronics or important documents in your hold luggage.
Medication
Take medication in your hand luggage, in its original packaging. If you take medication regularly, bring a prescription or a statement from your doctor. Not every medicine is permitted in every country. Please check in advance with official bodies, such as the Dutch government (Rijksoverheid) or the embassy of your destination.
Special baggage
Are you taking sports equipment, a pushchair, a musical instrument or a wheelchair? Please tell us when you make your request. Each airline has its own rules, and advance notice may be required or extra charges may apply.
Lost or damaged baggage
If your suitcase does not arrive or is damaged, report it immediately at the airport to the airline’s desk, before you leave the arrivals hall. Keep your baggage tags and let us know afterwards what happened.
